Newts and Salamanders in The Animal Encyclopedia

Newts and salamanders (Caudata) are a group of amphibians that include about 10 subgroups and 470 species. Newts and salamanders have a long, slender body, a long tail, and usually two pairs of limbs. They inhabit cool, shady habitats and are most active during the night. Newts and salamanders are silent amphibians, they do not croak or make loud sounds like frogs and toads. Of all amphibians, newts and salamanders most closely resemble the earliest fossil amphibians, the earliest animals to have adapted to life on land. All salamanders and newts are carnivorous. They feed on small invertebrates such as insects, worms, snails, and slugs. Many species of newts and salamanders have poison glands in their skin which helps to protect them against predators. The skin of newts and salamanders is smooth and lacks scales or hair. It acts as a surface through which respiration can take place (oxygen is absorbed, carbon dioxide is released) and for this reason it must stay moist. This means newts and salamanders are restricted to damp or wet habitats to ensure their skin never dries out. During the larval stage, many species of newts and salamanders have feathery external gills that enable them to breath in water. These gills disappear when the animal matures into the adult form. Many adult newts and salamanders breath using lungs. Some species also absorb oxygen through the surfaces of their mouth and enhance the movement of air or water using buccal pumping, a rhythmic panting that is apparent by the vibration of the animals chin. Moving air and water through the mouth also enables the newt or salamander to sample the odors in the surrounding environment. Classification Animals Chordates Amphibians Newts and Salamanders Newts and salamanders are divided into about ten subgroups including mole salamanders, amphiumas, giant salamanders and hellbenders, Pacific giant salamanders, Asiatic salamanders, lungless salamanders, mudpuppies and waterdogs, torrent salamanders, newts and salamanders and sirens.

So in a couple of minutes of thinking we figure something creative. Our plan was to go to McDonalds and use the drive thru to order our order, but the catch is that I was supposed to walk to the drive thru with no car just me standing there ordering my order and when they said to pull up to the next widow I would just walk to the window and pay and walk to the other window to get my order. We will write a custom essay sample on Breaking a Social Norm or any similar topic only for you Order Now We did this after the homecoming dance around like 10:40. So I basically I got of the car I started walking to the drive thru and I was basically stuck in traffic. I got behind this black ford SUV and I waited for my turn. So finally it was my turn and I order everything on the dollar menu. But my friends also told me to say â€Å"god damn! † while I order something. So I sounded like this â€Å"can I get a goddamn McChicken† So the guy said please drive up to the next window and I started walking. When I got there you should’ve seen his reaction like he was expecting a car not a guy walking to the drive thru. He didn’t say anything he just gave me change back and I started walking to the next window to pick up my order. I was so embarrassed by this; I felt that I was doing something out of my comfort zone. Yes I did experience anxiety; in a rate of 1-10 I think I was experiencing an 11! The people reaction was the funniest because they would just stare at me like if I had mental problems. One driver kept on honking at me and yelling â€Å"get out of the way you stupid kid† I just ignored him and he just gave up and drove off while giving me the finger. But the reaction of the cashier of the drive thru was priceless like oh my god I just can’t explain it. The people that made me more uncomfortable where the one on Kennedy Dr. When the stop light turn red and all the cars where stopped they all stared at my direction. They probably were thinking what is this kid doing? So I basically tried to ignore them the whole time so in wouldn’t get more nervous than I was already. Free College Admissionss My Biggest Mistake Essay Example For Students

Free College Admissionss: My Biggest Mistake Essay College Admissions EssaysCollege Admissions Essays My Biggest Mistake In response to the question what has been your biggest mistake? My biggest mistake is everyones biggest mistake that no one can help. We all take on assumptions throughout our lives, and when we finally come to understand this, we spend our lives undoing all of them in order to approach the truth with assumption less intelligence. Some get far enough for some gigantic insight. Einstein got far enough back to come up with relativity. When I was a baby it took me an extra long time to respond to my name. My father tells me that there was a certain sense of disdain in my refusal to respond, as though I was not willing to call my awareness by a group of noise waves, or even willing to call it separate yet. I want to be back there as intelligent as I am now. I want to consider everything from that one pivotal moment of assumption. Imagine coming into the world with your current raw intellect, without having been taught how to think about anything. Imagine simply feeling your awareness and not having any preconceptions about what it is. Would you necessarily see yourself as an object like the other objects you saw around you? Without being told what your abilities are, what abilities would you develop? Maybe this super amnesia could be effected upon a mind, and this perspective could be gained. Or perhaps the fastest way would be to wake a true AI, some computer that had evolved out of its code to achieve actual awareness as independent of circuitry and current as ours is of neurons and the skull.
